Chikorita is the dino-like grass Pokemon. It will eventually grow up to the stonewall Meganium. Meganium has high Defense and Special Defense stats, making this Pokemon great for defensive tactics.
Cyndaquil is the little mouse-like fire Pokemon. It will eventually grow up to the strong Typhlosion. Typhlosion has high Special Attack and Speed stats, making this Pokemon great for quick, strong special attacks. Keep me logged in on this device Forgot your username or password? I know about how the starters differ, the difficulty of which I choose, and I always used fire as the starter except for red and blue, I chose bulbasaur , but I need to know. Please help me choose? Okay, I went with fire again, but I don't know about the other starters, which one of them should I choose?
Top Voted Answer. Cyndaquil - Easy. Easily beats Gyms 2 and 7. All stages of Cyndaquil are speedy. Totodile - Medium. Balanced Gym Difficulties, but its potential won't shine through until at least Ecruteak and even then, only if it can use Bite.
Ice Fang rips through Gym 8. Great Attack. Chikorita - Hard. Especially difficult for the mandatory Tin Tower events in HeartGold. Chikorita and its evolutions are tanks, not attackers, so you'll need to rely a lot on the rest of the team. Just put it in and out of the party when you need to travel from city-to-city. There is Cyndaquil, Totodile, and Chikorita. Each pokemon offers a different challenge and perk. Fire pokemon are actually few and far between in Heart Gold and Soul Silver. You won't see one until after the third gym fight, when you might run into a Growlithe or Vulpix on your way to earn the fourth badge.
Additionally, both Growlithe and Vulpix needs a fire stone to evolve, which is also hard to come by. Cyndaquil has an easy time in most of your major battles throughout the game. With a type advantage over Bug , Steel, Grass, and Ice, Cyndaquil will only face trouble against the eighth gym leader Clair , who uses Dragons. However, Cyndaquil suffers from a low defense stat.
Don't expect it and its evolutions, Quilava and Typhlosion , to take too many hits. Also, Cyndaquil will not have many fire attacks early on.
