The Notifications during messages feature is very useful. Turn it on and you will receive a reminder when you are speaking to someone in Messages. As an example, Apple talks about a reminder to send a flight itinerary to someone during a Messages conversation. The upgraded Reminders app requires that you also upgrade all the devices you use in order to access he latest features. This means that iCloud reminders are only available on your other devices if they are running the latest software; reminders created on devices that do not run the latest software will only be visible on other devices running that version of the software.
When you update an old device to the latest software, any new reminders created on the device in the old iOS will be lost. And if you create a reminder on a device running the latest edition of the application without actually opening it such as setting a reminder with Siri those reminders will also be lost when you launch the app. Open the app and tap the list you want to add a reminder to, or tap Add List to create a new list of reminders.
When you create a reminder inside the app, you also gain access to the quick toolbar. You can ask Siri to set reminders. If you have set your home or work address in Contacts then Siri will understand location-based reminders, also. You can set reminders from within other apps. Tap the Share button and type the reminder. Tap Details and in the subsequent screen you can set priorities, add the reminder to a specific list and choose date, time and enable alarms for that reminder.
Tag a reminder: Click the Tag button, then choose an existing tag or click New Tag to create and apply a new tag. Learn how to ask Siri. After you create a reminder, you can change the details or add more details using the inspector. In addition to date, time, and location fields, the inspector includes fields you can use to set up repeating reminders, get reminded when messaging a person, and add a URL or image to a reminder.
In the Reminders app on your Mac, place the pointer over a reminder, then click the Info button. You can also select the reminder, then use the Touch Bar. Be reminded on a date and time: Select the On a Day checkbox, click the date, then use the calendar to pick a date or type the date in the month, day, and year fields. After you enter a date, select the At a Time checkbox, then type a time in the hour and minute fields, or leave it unselected to make it an all-day reminder.
If you want to be reminded on a repeating schedule, place the pointer over the repeat field, click the pop-up menu, then choose an option. To set an end date for the repeating schedule, place the pointer over the end repeat field, click the pop-up menu, choose On Date, then use the calendar to pick a date or type the date in the month, day, and year fields.
Be reminded when you arrive at or leave a location: Select the At a Location checkbox, click the Enter a Location field, choose a suggested location or type a location and select a suggested location, then select either Arriving or Leaving. Be reminded when messaging a person: Select the When Messaging a Person checkbox, click Add Contact, then choose a person.
Change the priority: Place the pointer over the priority field, click the pop-up menu, then choose an option. Exclamation marks appear in the reminder list to indicate priority: one for low, two for medium, and three for high.
Add images: Click Add Image, choose Photos, select one or more images, then drag the images to the reminder. Once iCloud syncs them to your Apple device, you can move them into Things. Check the box for Show to-dos from to enable it. Click the dropdown box and choose your preferred list. On your iPad or iPhone, open Things.
Turn Reminders Inbox on. Tap into List and choose your preferred list.
